Shock before you get a Shock!!
With all this wonderful weather around we thought it best to highlight the importance of maintaining your water balance, even though your pool may not be used as much as you would like at this time of year. Shocking your swimming pool is as important as using stabailised chlorine and using algaecides and all pools should be shocked on a regular, weekly or fortnightly basis.
Although shocking your pool will help remove the pool of things such as sweat, cosmetics, suntan lotions (don’t laugh!!) it does make a big difference with regards to heavy rain which will to a certain extent contaminate yoor pool water. Using a shock chlorine product will help ensure that the stabailised chlorine can concentrate on killing bacteria & algae rather than having to fight these other foreign materials.
Regular shocking oxidises the wastes that accumulate in the pool water over time which again can include additional elements that are introduced from the rain. With the threat a few years ago of water restrictions, Swimming Pools are also being topped up using water butts, these again will hold certain waters that can contaminate your pools and again using a chlorine shock will remove these.
With regards to water treatment for Swimming Pools prevention is always the best solution. If you have any question regarding your swimming pool water treatment please do not hesitate to contact one of our advisers who will be more than happy to talk you through any questions you may have.
Hopefully the worst of the recent bad weather is now gone so we can all start to enjoy our Swimming Pools again certainly weather websites such as the bbc and metcheck are showing that the second half of July is looking warm, Time to get the Barbie out
